SAMANALI called in Sinhalese means BUTTERFLY and has the following special magic meaning: It is a power animal and thus an enigmatic master of metamorphosis. Each totem has unique properties that can help us and give vitality. These are nature spirits that in certain situations can show us  the way. They accompany and protect us along in certain periods of life or sometimes even forever.

JOY - LIGHTNESS - TRANSFORMATION

 are the keywords that best represents the quality and special magic from power animal butterfly  and so also of my project.

2010 befand ich mich privat in Sri Lanka und lernte dort einen Mitarbeiter von unterschiedlichen Hilfsorganisationen kennen. Die meisten von ihnen sind anerkannten gemeinnützigen In 2010, I found myself privately in Sri Lanka and I realized that I did not see many disabled

children around. So I was curious to find more about and started to ask around and to visit some

disabled children around the area of Hikkaduwa-Thelwatta. Unfortunately I found a lot of children

in really bad physically conditions what made me very sad and that motivated me as a

physiotherapist to contribute help on my way: making something good and useful for disabled

children in Sri Lanka.

So the idea of the project "Physiotherapy for disabled children in Sri Lanka" was given and  2011 I started to realize my ideas like a pilot project in my free leisure time.

This was spoke quickly in the area of Hikkaduwa with local people around and was gratefully

accepted.

Thanks of support from many different lovely people I was able to realize a lot of my ideas, and I

have lots more ideas to further develop this project.

The aim is to give disabled children a possibility for physical treatment and to help those people

and families who have to deal with handicapped situation. In Sri Lanka is not really so much

possibility to go somewhere and most of the families they don´t have the money to permit them a

therapy. The treatment is absolutely free of charge.

The ultimate object for the future will be to have one day a center for those children, where in addition to the daily therapeutic work to the patient, we can give the local disabled children also a possibility of an adapted school instruction by local teacher. One place to look for where they know that they need not despair, but that you are there for them and help them with the disability.

Furthermore, this place should also offer international medical and therapeutic guest internships in various medical fields and allow training opportunities of local physiotherapists.

To support the Community of health of Sri Lanka therefore , is only one part of my ideas.

This dream to realize, is a long way - but not impossible. For this I working with all my heart for the children and their concerns. All this is not possible without any assistance. Any kind of support is heartly welcome.
